The Nottinghamshire Bereavement Trust

Our BackgroundWho we are

In an uncertain world, the one certainty is death.

The loss of a loved relative or friend will often cause deep and continuing grief. When death is sudden, violent or unexpected such grief can be overwhelming. And it can occur immediately, in weeks, months or even years.

Frequently it is only the help of a third party that can assist.

Through Freephone Helplines we offer skilled support to anyone who is struggling to come to terms with a bereavement.

What we do

Every evening of the year (no exceptions!) our Freephone Helplines are staffed between 6.00pm & 10.00pm to lend a sympathetic listening ear to anyone suffering the anguish and pain that can follow the death of a loved relative or friend.

Also

We act as a catalyst and give support to local Authorities in establishing 'Children & Baby Gardens' in public cemeteries.

Here bereaved parents and friends can find a little comfort in more informal surroundings, and may place personal memorabilia on the grave of their lost child.

Such 'Children's Gardens' are in place at Wilford Hill, Bramcote, Bulwell and Mansfield.

We offer specialist Short Courses, Advice and Education to the many people who experience bereavement in their daily work. (Priests, Doctors, Police, Welfare Advisors, etc)

We Co-operate fully with Sister Groups working in the field of bereavement, and with Bereavement Centres established in major hospitals.
